The Colorado is Sevylor's signature two-seater model. Recently superseded by the Madison, the Colorado offers brilliant value for money for those who don't need the latest and greatest. A mid-range model, the Colorado is versatile, friendly to paddlers of all experience and can be used on water of all types - from tranquil canals to white water.
❓ Colorado vs. Madison
Many of our customers find themselves torn between these two models. So we thought we'd explain the difference here! The Madison builds on the success of the Colorado; besides the 2018 face-lift, the Madison has more versatile seating, improved backrest comfort and the option for an 'all-in-one' inflation valve (Madison Premium).
🛶 How does it paddle?
The Colorado takes well to all waters - lakes, rivers, canals, coastal and open sea. The raise bow of the kayak makes for a dry experience, even when playing in the surf. The Colorado can be used solo or tandem and is durable enough to carry you on years of explorations.
🐊 Armoured skin
The underneath of the Colorado is protected by Decitex®, a patented skin formed from nylon that has been meticulously woven through multiple layers of PVC. The result is a smooth and slippery surface with low-drag. Thanks to this ‘iron-like’ skin, you can drag the Colorado up shingle beaches, run aground over rocks, and graze against low-lying branches and roots. Water will bead off the Decitex® skin, keeping your kayak bone-dry for when you’re ready to pack up.
Despite it’s incredible strength, the material is lightweight and couldn’t be easier to roll up.
💡 Some good ideas
The Sevylor Colorado can be used for solo or tandem, and is protected enough to carry fishing gear.
The Colorado is difficult (near impossible) to flip over, making it a safe option for those who want to stay dry. It’s nimble enough to navigate tight rivers, but robust and stable enough to tackle white-water rapids. The raised bow and spray deck makes for good defence against any choppy waves that would otherwise leave you a little wet.
The whole kayak rolls into a neat carry bag – perfect for storing items in whilst paddling. At 15Kg this kayak is more than manageable for one person to carry and fits nicely inside a suitcase for adventures abroad.
The Colorado has handles at the mid-point, and at each end of the kayak, so it’s even easier to carry by yourself, and the kayak comes with an attachable skeg and built-in directional strake, which gives the boat incredible directional stability and tracking.
